The region to the East of Malaga in southern Spain is known as Axarquia "the Land to the East". It's Sierra Almijara mountains provide a stunning backdrop to sandy beaches and the nearby blue Mediterranean Sea. The climate is the best in Europe, being warm and sunny all year round, it's not just a summer resort.

On the southerly slopes of these mountains nestling between protected nature parks, are small whitewashed Andalusian village unchanged for centuries.

Malaga is the capital of the province Axarquia and offers excellent shopping and cultural opportunities. In the bars of the old town you can enjoy an excellent glass of wine from the environment, the best "Pata Negra", ham, Manchego cheese, fresh fish and general Andalusian cuisine.

The beaches and the costal region of the Axarquia are just to reach in a few minutes and the golf course of La Caleta in about 25 minutes. 

The white villages of Competa and Torrox are also in a few minutes to reach and offers supermarkets, shops, banks and many excellent restaurants
